All eyes are on the bride as she walks down the aisle in the beautiful wedding gown toward her beloved grooms. On the day when all eyes are on you and you are the center of attention, wear a gown that makes you feel lovely and confident. Walking into a bridal salon can be an overwhelming experience, with literally hundreds of beautiful choices. It helps to start out with some idea of what to look for by knowing ahead of time what type of gown is most flattering to your unique figure.
Whether you are have a curvy hourglass figure, are a little heavier on the bottom, bigger on top, tall, short or plus sized; there are certain cuts that will flatter more than others. Following are some guidelines to consider when selecting a wedding style.
Hourglass Shape Bride
The Hourglass shape is the feminine ideal, with a small, defined waistline between balanced top and hips. This feminine form is flattered by figure hugging styles, such as the mermaid shaped gown that hugs the curves and flares out at the bottom. Mermaid shaped gowns are at the height of wedding fashion right now. Women with hourglass figures are also flattered by pretty ball gowns with a figure hugging bodice and a wide skirt. Pear Shaped Bride

Rectangle Shaped Bride

Petite Bride
Petite brides, 5′4″ or under, can elongate their look with an A-line dress with a fitted bodice. The mermaid silhouette is a great proportionate look without being overwhelming to a small figure. Full Figured Bride
Full figured brides, sizes 14W plus, can flaunt their curves with a flattering A-lines with is slimming and elegant. Deep V-necks draw the attention to the bust line and are flattering to women who are larger on top. Covering the arms with sleeves balances the figure and adds coverage.
